At 02.40 on the night of Saturday 30 October, a serious incident of violence took place in the taxi queue on Stortorget in the center of Tromsø.
A man in his 30s was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. On Sunday, he died of his injuries, the police inform iTromsø.
– We have received confirmation of the death from the man’s assistance lawyer, says police lawyer Christian Hanssen to iTromsø on Sunday.
He has been inside UNN ever since the violence.
The man has been in a coma ever since the incident, and his medical condition has been serious and critical.
The newspaper Nordlys writes that they have been in contact with both the family and the family’s welfare lawyer, who says that the family does not want to say anything about the death at the moment.

The man was standing in a taxi queue on Stortorget in Tromsø when he was beaten down by an 18-year-old man unknown to him.
The accused 18-year-old was arrested by the police shortly after the incident. He was later released.
The 18-year-old’s defender, Anja Hellander, tells iTromsø that she has been in contact with her client and informed him about what has happened.
– He is desperate and takes it very seriously. He thinks it is absolutely awful, she tells the newspaper.
