The renowned national company Teatro Cinema returns to the stage after two years with “Rosa”. Through the company’s own language, which combines theater, music, film and visual arts, the work addresses topics such as women in the theater and the fragility of life.
Commissioned by Fundación CorpArtes, this is the company’s first premiere in more than two years and, at the same time, marks the return of the Foundation with face-to-face shows, suspended to date due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The functions will take place at the Aldea del Encuentro Cultural Corporation, between January 5 and 30, 2020.
Rosa’s argument
An older actress, who is on her way to receive an award for her career, suffers a sudden accident that leads her to reconnect with her memories … and with a life that mirrors that of many other women in the theater. This is the story behind Rosa, the most recent show by the Chilean company Teatrocinema -recognized internationally for its works such as Without Blood and The Movie Contadora-, which will take place between January 5 and 30, 2020.
“These last two years have been one of profound transformation for the entire world of the arts. Among several aspects, the importance that collaborative work has acquired stands out. With Teatrocinema we had been maintaining a fruitful relationship that after the pandemic became a true space for dialogue, collaboration and brotherhood in survival, and that led us to achieve that this wonderful work was able to see the light. We are very happy to premiere this work by a national company as relevant as Teatrocinema, which contributes to the national scene through its great artistic quality ”, says Francisca Florenzano, Executive Director of Fundación CorpArtes.
Fusion
With the hallmark of the language developed by Teatrocinema, in the play the concept of the monologue is reinterpreted by the company through a fusion between acting and elements of film and visual arts. Thus, the voice of the protagonist takes the viewer through scenarios where dreams and reality are confused, inviting them to reflect on issues such as women in theater and the fragility of life, which were largely inspired by experiences lived. in the social outbreak and the pandemic by Covid-19.
“One of the things that is important to me in the work is the rescue of the trade, which is set (in Rosa) as the lesson of being a person who seeks creativity and artistic space, which is what gives it meaning to your life. A little bit of what happened in all this time of the pandemic also made us reaffirm ourselves in our choice of life, and that is also printed there ”, comments Laura Pizarro, protagonist and scriptwriter of Rosa, and founder of Teatrocinema. Likewise, Juan Carlos Zagal, director and scriptwriter of the play, and founder of Teatrocinema, comments that “when we wrote the story we also took care of many women who have suffered, so the feminine is in how the character finds his voice, in where she speaks and says not necessarily what has happened to her, but to many other anonymous women ”.
Rosa will perform at the Aldea del Encuentro Cultural Corporation with functions between January 5 and 30, at 8:00 p.m. More information in this link.
