The Business Coordinating Council of the Riviera Maya, CCERM, of which businessmen, professionals, schools and academic institutions are part, requested by means of a letter to the administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), that the airport to be built in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo, it is called “International Airport of the Riviera Maya”.
They consider this brand to be strategic and competitive, as stated by Lenin Amaro Betancourt, president of the CCERM. “The Riviera Maya destination brand is strategic and very competitive within tourism Marketing; which includes several destinations in the Mexican Caribbean, famous worldwide, such as: Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Puerto Morelos, Akumal, and Puerto Aventuras. These sub-brands benefit and obtain greater business opportunities under a single umbrella ”, said Amaro, as reported by Quintana Roo Hoy.
The Riviera Maya brand was created since 1998 and for several years it has been positioning itself to achieve international recognition. “On the other hand, Riviera Maya groups under a single brand an extensive range of tourist options for visitors that, in addition to natural attractions, includes: accommodation; from maximum luxury to community ecotourism; archeology, theme parks, gastronomy, sports and events of international stature; thus breaking with segmentation paradigms and generating visitor loyalty; at the same time that it renews its tourist experience ”, explained Amaro.
The Riviera Maya is about 210 kilometers long along the Quintana Roo coast; from Puerto Morelos to Punta Allen, and owns more than 50% of the state’s hotel supply. “Therefore, baptizing the new airport in the Mexican Caribbean with this world tourism brand name is the best option.”, Concluded Amaro.
As reported REPORTUR.mx, the Riviera Maya will experience a revolution that will transform it by adding three reasons; on the one hand, with the expansion of the Cancun-Tulum highway to incorporate the Mayan Train line; on the other, the construction of ecotourism hotels around the stations, to which will be added the station that will have the much-announced Tulum Airport, and the biocultural architectural designs of stations such as Nuevo Xcan, which will offer two hotels. As for the Cancun-Tulum highway, the federal government announced at the time an investment of more than 13 billion pesos and it will last for three years, according to Fonatur. This remodeling will have a free section 15 meters wide in the center of the track, which will be the railway platform. Likewise, the sections of Cancun-Playa del Carmen and Playa del Carmen-Tulum will increase, so that more than 80 thousand vehicles circulate daily.
