LG shows 9.1.5 Soundbar with 810W output and central, upward-facing driver – Image and sound – News

LG has unveiled the Soundbar, a soundbar that comes with a subwoofer and two separate speakers. In total, the Soundbar has five upward-facing drivers, three of which are in the soundbar itself. The soundbar has a central, upward-facing driver, for the first time in an LG soundbar.

These upward-firing drivers reflect sound from the ceiling back down and according to LG for a more spacious sound than if fewer upward-firing speakers were used. The two separate supplied speakers that should be placed in the back of a room also receive two extra drivers. As a result, these speakers now have three six channels; two on the front and sides and one facing the ceiling.

Those two speakers should now be able to sound in a radius of 135 degrees around the speakers due to the extra drivers. According to the company, users now have more flexibility when it comes to where the speakers should be placed. This would be especially useful in smaller rooms.

The Soundbar, with model number S95QR, is also better suited for larger rooms, according to LG. The Soundbar has a ‘more sensitive receiver’, which means that a greater distance can be placed between the soundbar, speakers and subwoofer, without this affecting the sound quality. The subwoofer is also larger and must therefore be able to reproduce more bass sounds.

LG’s Soundbar supports vrr, allm, LG’s Wowcast WiFi dongle, IMAX Enhanced, AI Sound Pro, among others, and can handle LG TV remotes. LG has not yet announced a price and availability. The Soundbar will be on display at the CES fair, as well as other new LG audio products.
