On the eve of Christmas, December 23, a concert rich in beautiful melodies and musical surprises is expected in the Concert Hall “Cēsis” together with the artists of this year’s concert hall residence – Kristīne, Margarita and Roberts Balanas.

According to the representatives of “Delfi”, the concert will feature a suite of Peter Tchaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker”, compositions by Vivaldi, Sibelius and Ravel, as well as performances of “Sigur Rós” and “Pink Floyd” for electric violin.
“Another successful year of the musicians’ residency has passed and will soon end with the Three Balana Christmas Concert. Kristīne, Margarita and Roberts have developed a number of new and successful collaborations with both Latvian and European musicians in planning their concert programs. We are pleased that Inese Zagorska, the artistic director of the Concert Hall “Cēsis”, evaluates the residence of Trīs Balana.
In anticipation of the holiday and in search of a bright mood, a concert program created for Christmas Eve by violinists Kristīne and Roberts Balanas and cellist Margarita Balanas.
Peter Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker is an integral part of the repertoire of world operas and theaters in Gadumija. The melodies loved by the listeners will also be played on the evening of December 23 in Cēsis for two violins and cello, conjuring up scenes from the famous Christmas fairy tale. Alongside are compositions by Antonio Vivaldi, Jean Sibelius and Maurice Ravel.
Roberts Balanas not only virtuoso interprets classical compositions, but has also gained recognition for his own performances of popular and rock music for violin. Last summer, the media was overwhelmed by the news that Sir Elton John himself had appreciated the young musician’s performance in arranging his song “I’m Stil Standing.”
At the concert in Cēsis, Roberts will surprise with compositions by Sigur Rós, Pink Floyd and Daisel Sizars for electric violin.
This year, the young, talented musicians who have already proved their name on the world’s big stages were the artists of the “Cēsis” Concert Hall. The residence closes with a Christmas concert. According to the musicians themselves, this has been a very busy and glorious year for them in the concert hall “Cēsis”.
They look back with satisfaction at the live concert with Sinfonietta Rīga and conductor Ben Palmer, as well as the 75th anniversary concert of Pēteris Vasks broadcast on Latvian Television and Latvian Radio with the conductors of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, the State Academic Choir “Latvija”. – Andris Pogu and Māris Sirmo. Two original programs of Margarita were performed at the international festival “Cello Cēsis”, while the collaboration with musicians from the Karajan Academy and the Berlin Philharmonic not only delighted the audience of the concert hall, but opened new growth opportunities, as well as excellent musical cooperation with Latvia’s young talents.
“All three of us are very grateful to the Cēsis Concert Hall and its administration for their support and the opportunity to fulfill even the currently impossible concert ideas,” say all three Balanas at the end of the residency.
