“Three days ago, we all predicted a cold Christmas. Touchingly, as at a party meeting, we agreed that the great beast from the east, the great Siberian bear, would invade here with the cold. It turned out that she will only wash our tails on Tuesday and Wednesday and will stay far away in Siberia. This was stated in “Wake up” on bTV by Prof. Georgi Rachev.
It is practically certain that there will be no snow for Christmas in Bulgaria. The latest forecasts point to warming around Christmas Eve and Christmas with tolerable daytime temperatures.
During the weekend – today and on Sunday, the cold will continue due to the cold air coming from the north. On Saturday the clouds will be mostly significant, but during the day there will be breaks, more likely in the northern half of the country. The precipitation will be mostly snow – in the mountains, in the Fore-Balkans, the high fields of Western Bulgaria and in places in the Northeast.
Windy and cold weather. Temperatures in the warm part of the day will be in the range from 1 to 5-6 degrees. In the mountains – between minus 4 and minus 10 degrees.
As early as Saturday afternoon, the rainfall will decrease everywhere and will stop with the breaking of the clouds. So on Sunday morning it will be especially frosty with temperatures down to minus 10 degrees in the cloudless areas. In the light part of the day it will remain cold with temperatures from zero to 5-6 degrees.
A snow cyclone centered over European Russia also brings cold weather at the beginning of Christmas week. On Monday, the onset of cold from the north will continue. Strong gusts of ice are expected in the western half of the country.
There will be snowfall, but it will be insignificant in the flat part of the country. The cold around Christmas will reach its culmination on Tuesday-Wednesday in the morning with temperatures in some western regions with clear weather to minus 13 – minus 14 degrees.
