Luuk de Jong’s Gray Cloud in Barcelona

Barcelona

Future Luke de Jong from Barcelona looks gray. No longer wanted Xavi Hernandez, the Dutch striker wants to be released in the market this winter.

De Jong was brought to Barcelona under the coach Ronald Koeman at the start of this season. He became a loan player from Sevilla on a contract until the end of the season.

Having played several times in Barcelona’s attack, De Jong’s career at Camp Nou faded after the sacking of Koeman at the end of last October. The 31-year-old striker was left out when Xavi was appointed as the new coach Blaugrana.

Luke de Jong so far only recorded eight games in the Spanish League together Barcelona. He was only able to score one goal, before finally being parked on the bench.

Barcelona seems to have no longer included De Jong in the game plan. The former PSV Eindhoven star was allowed to leave Camp Nou at the end of this year, or early 2022.

Two Turkish clubs, Fenerbahce and Besiktas, are said to be interested in signing De Jong in the winter market. On the one hand, Barcelona is also trying to release the player to an Italian club, Inter Milan.

Citing a report Tuttosport, Barcelona want to swap De Jong’s bolster with Alexis Sanchez at Inter. Both parties are said to be close to an agreement for the transfer.

Sanchez himself is no stranger to Barcelona, because it has strengthened Blaugrana in the period 2011-2014. Xavi reportedly prefers to bring back Sanchez rather than using the services of De Jong.

If the transfer materializes, then Luke de Jong will play in Italy for the first time in his career. He had previously tasted the Premier League atmosphere with Newcastle United and the Bundesliga (Borussia Moenchengladbach).
