Jakarta: During 2021, WhatsApp will release various feature updates as part of its efforts to develop its communication platform. WhatsApp is one of the applications that many people choose thanks to its simplicity.
Various new features released by WhatsApp this year have made it easier for users to communicate, both via text and voice messages, to voice and video calls. Here are the new features released by WhatsApp this year.
1. Storage management tool
This feature allows users to check photos, videos and other documents that are forwarded in the storage management section and delete them. Users can also delete private chats.

2. WhatsApp Payment
This feature helps you send and receive money from friends and family using the app. Payment options can be seen in the chat, next to the attachment icon. This feature allows users to filter searches by text, photos, GIFs, videos, audio, documents, and links, and can be used by tapping the Search icon.
3. Join the unanswered group call
With this update, you can join group calls even if you didn’t have time to answer them before. To enjoy this feature, you can open the WhatsApp call log, then access the incoming call info screen and select one of the available groups and tap Join.
4. Disappearing mode
Another new feature of WhatsApp 2021, namely Disappearing mode, is one of the latest privacy settings introduced by WhatsApp. By enabling this mode, you can set the message to disappear by itself within a certain time, and can be utilized in all types of conversations.
5. Dark mode
This feature has the ability to change the background to a dark gray, so it not only makes your eyes less tired, but also saves phone battery. To enable it, you need to access Settings and Chat.
Then, select the Theme option and you just need to choose one of the available Light/Dark/Default System options.
6. Adding group call participants
WhatsApp has increased the limit on the number of participants that can join a group phone call to eight people. Previously, this feature was only able to accommodate four participants in one group call.
7. Multi-device feature
Recently, WhatsApp came with a multi-device feature for beta users. With this feature, users can access WhatsApp on multiple devices. A maximum of four users can access their WhatsApp account on four devices.
This can be done even if the main device or cellphone is not connected to the internet network.
8. WhatsApp advanced search
This feature allows users to filter searches by text, photos, GIFs, videos, audio, documents, and links. This feature can be used by tapping the ‘search’ icon.
Those are the features of WhatsApp 2021 so far. WhatsApp will reportedly continue to bring new features in 2022.
