Composer Zigmars Liepins meets the poet Alexander Chuck. There is a musical poetry show / Article

Dedicated to the poet in the 120th anniversary year of Alexander Chuck in the Riga Art Space exposure supplemented by a musical poetry show “You, infinity, I send my eyes to you!” with the music of composer Zigmars Liepiņš in the new chakish mood.

Agita Ikauniece-Rimšēviča, the artistic director and conductor of the Jasmine Choir, says: “Riga Art Space tries to complement them with a musical event by creating expositions and exhibitions. In the words of Chuck, and indeed absolutely accidentally written, highlighted musical material – Zigmars Liepins, Aleksandrs Chaks from the collection “Mirrors of Imagination”, and I simply resuscitated it.

Zigmars Liepiņš says that by the age of 27, when the music was made, he had not “gathered” and thought a lot about Chuck’s poetry. The compositions were recorded silently on the radio, the composer reveals: “At twelve o’clock at night we went to the studio in silence and at four o’clock we went out to work. We gave them the phonogram, and so they lived their lives.”

Actor Gundars Grasbergs is grateful to the composer: “Bliss came to me in my rehearsal today, but she climbed it slowly because it is complicated, its poetry is very, very and gradually rising. Thanks to the composer. I just tried to impress him that, perhaps this is the best music he has written, an extremely wonderful cycle that has not been touched in recent years, a wonderful meeting, thank you for all this! ”

Actress Agnese Budovska and singer Mikus Abaroniņš are also pleased to participate in the concert performance.

“Chuck writes a lot about the city, and his poetry is very rhythmic and resilient and echoes in the city, this year and last year, when you walk around an empty city with fewer people, you see more of the city itself, its buildings, its streets, and listen to your steps and the rhythm of those steps, and now and then I have even thought about Chuck and the vision of his city, and then you will feel more in his shoes, because the city is facing you, there is not so much around him. “Tolvita Krese, the curator of the exhibition, says more about the taste during this time.”

The creators of the musical poetry show hope to show this program in other cities of Latvia next year, the year of Zigmars Liepiņš’s seventieth anniversary.
