WhatsApp has released a new privacy feature that hides the “last seen” status by default. This feature allows your WhatsApp status to be hidden from people you don’t know or haven’t chatted with on the app, quoted from The Verge.
Indeed, before, WhatsApp set the status of “last seen” that can be seen by everyone by default. Now, the only people who can see your “last seen” status are those who have been added to your contact list.

Even though it looks harmless, third-party apps can collect certain user status information which allows some people to monitor others while using the WhatsApp platform.
