Jakarta (ANTARA) – The presence of the 5G network will be a part of digital history in Indonesia in 2021, making Indonesia a country in the Southeast Asia region that also implements the latest network after the Philippines, Thailand and Singapore.
Ericsson Indonesia’s Head of Network Solution Rony Nurmal explained that if 5G is implemented and dominates the network, more services will be available and will be able to provide a richer experience for users.

Starting from simple things from 4K video quality to service livestreaming with ability holographic.
“All digital services that exist today with the dominating implementation of 5G will of course continue to evolve. The progress will always be there enhanced digital service,” said Ronni in a virtual Ericsson Mobility Report on Wednesday.
Ronni said that in the current 4G era, we are used to viewing shows or information on the screen without being constrained or waiting.
If 5G has dominated cellular network services, not only will the data speed increase but the quality of service will also increase.
Usually in 4G services the video quality that is usually obtained is HD, but with standard 5G the resolution can increase to 4K and even 8K.
Then another example is quality livestreaming via video service call or video conference.

Nowadays we are used to making online video calls because activities during the pandemic have been shifted to the digital space.
“Livestreaming later it is possible to support services holographic with 5G. So we not only feel talking to family or co-workers but also we can clearly see the other person’s gestures. It certainly provides a richer and wider experience,” said Ronni.
Currently, Indonesia is just entering the early stages of implementing a 5G network and is still focusing on building a 4G network, especially in 3T (Lagging, Frontier, Outermost) areas.
There is only 1 agglomeration area and 8 big cities that experience 5G services in Indonesia, namely Jabodetabek, Bandung, Batam, Balikpapan, Makassar, Surakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, and Medan.
That is why qualified services to take advantage of the 5G network are not yet felt.
However, Ericsson predicts that Indonesia will grow rapidly not only in terms of the productivity of community activities but also from industry after 5G can be implemented nationally.
The national implementation of 5G is currently being fought for by preparing the appropriate frequency band so that the plan can be realized.
