Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – WhatsApp has just launched a new feature for Disappearing Messages. Its newest feature is auto-delete messages within 24 hours and 90 days.
Disappearing Messages is a feature that can delete messages automatically after setting a time limit. The newest feature brings a choice of settings by default.
This means that all sent chats will disappear according to the selected duration. WhatsApp also says this new feature is also made for group chats.
The company adds if the feature is optional. It also ensures the feature doesn’t change anything that was there before.
“WhatsApp users will have the option of activating disappearing messages by default for all chats. When activating it, all your chats or other people’s chats will be set to disappear for the selected duration,” WhatsApp wrote as quoted on Wednesday (15/12/2021).
“And we’ve added a new option when creating a group chat that lets you enable it for the created groups. This feature is made optional and doesn’t modify or delete existing chats.”
WhatsApp will also provide notifications to the interlocutor to know when this feature is activated.
In addition, WhatsApp adds a time duration option for this feature. If previously there were 7 days, this time it was increased to 24 hours and 90 days.
According to WhatsApp, this new feature gives meaning to the current private messaging service. Companies are also becoming closer to private conversation activities.
“We believe disappearing messages with end-to-end encryption are the two features that define what it means to be a private messaging service today, and bring us closer to the feeling of one-to-one conversation,” WhatsApp said.
Disappearing Messages can be used now. To activate it go to Settings > Account > Privacy > Default message timer, finally select the duration.
