Trend watcher Vincent Everts became the victim of an armed robbery at the beginning of the evening. That happened in his own home in Nieuw-West, while he was featured in a livestream about the corona crisis with Maurice de Hond.

The robbery happened around 5:20 p.m. It can be seen that Everts stands up and to one of the robbers “I have no Bitcoin at all” say. “I’m on the broadcast and someone is walking here with a …”, he says afterwards. Then the image goes black.

After a few minutes Everts returns. “I was just talking to you guys, three guys came in, they all pulled away cameras, they put a gun to my head and said, ‘Bitcoin, Bitcoin’. And they were let in because they pretended to have a package. “
Everts says that they also threatened his children. “At one point I got so pissed off I said shoot if you want to, and at some point I clearly wasn’t going to cooperate…then they ran away. We called 911 and the police are coming now.”

The police have now distributed the descriptions of the perpetrators via Burgernet. It concerns men between 17 and 19 years old, one of whom was wearing a DHL jacket. The three had masks on. Anyone who sees them is asked to call 911.
Several police cars are now parked at the house. Everts calls the robbery in the live stream too bizarre for words. “It’s really terrifying. I’ve heard of robberies being committed because of Bitcoins, but it’s really nonsense, like trying to rob a bank account.”

In the past year, more famous Dutch people have been robbed in the city. Mayor Halsema mentioned this at the beginning of December during a meeting worrisome. She went on to say that there is often a relationship with “displaying luxury goods on social media” and advised to watch out for that. “Because people who mean evil might find motive in that.”
A police spokesperson said the perpetrators of the robbery were no longer found in the area and that an investigation is still underway. A report is also still being filed.
Everts announces via Twitter that he is ‘ok’ now.
