MAD 325 million for the creation of business centers and startup incubators in 7 cities

The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour and the President of the Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIS) of Mohammedia, Fès, Dakhla, Tétouan, Agadir, Marrakech and Oujda signed on Wednesday, December 15 in Rabat, seven agreements for the financing of projects of economic interest for the benefit of these Chambers, selected following a call for expressions of interest.

These projects, involving a total investment of MAD 325.6 million, will create more than 4,200 jobs and generate additional revenue that will help strengthen the financial autonomy of CCISs.

Business centers and coworking spaces

The projects consist of carrying out 3 multi-purpose business centers in Mohammedia, Fès and Dakhla, 3 exhibition and service facilities in Tetouan, Agadir and Marrakech and an incubator for the launch of startups in Oujda. This involves in particular setting up reception areas for various events (exhibitions, seminars, trade shows, etc.) and other coworking aimed at improving access to entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as domiciliation and support services for the benefit of very small and medium-sized enterprises / small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs / SMEs) and start-ups.

“Today more than any other day, the chambers of commerce, like the regional investment centers (IRCs), are called upon to be levers for a balanced regional economic development, within the framework of the implementation the process of advanced regionalization, launched by the Sovereign and placed at the center of the priorities of the New Development Model, ”said the Minister, during the signing ceremony of these conventions.

And to continue: “Our role consists in offering the actors the conditions and the necessary means so that they can fulfill their mission and fully play their mobilizing role of the potential of the regions, allowing them to put forward their skills and their riches ”.

CCISs, relays for regional economic development

“The rooms are now evolving, from a public establishment financed by the State to a establishment providing employment and income generator for the region. These projects of economic interest amply attest to this and we will spare no effort to support and accompany their realization ”, specified the Minister.

These agreements are the result of work carried out with the chambers, since the signing of the framework agreement between the State and the Federation of CCIS, under the effective presidency of King Mohammed VI, aimed at their repositioning as a development relay economic regions.

These projects thus meet the needs of businesses in terms of proximity to services, infrastructure, workspaces and exhibitions, and will undoubtedly contribute to improving the territorial attractiveness of the regions.
