Nuclear energy is looking forward to a bright future in the Netherlands: what options does the country have?

The Netherlands is thus following the Finns, French, British and Poles. They are also investing in new nuclear power plants. It is not yet clear which types that will be.

Is it about third-generation mastodons like in Olkiluoto, Flamanville or Hinkley Point? These are large power stations of more than 1500 MW that have all become financial and construction nightmares. In Olkiluoto and Flamanville, they have been building for 16 and 14 years respectively, and the power stations are not yet ready. The costs exploded from three billion to probably 15 billion euros. That is mainly due to growing pains, say the manufacturers. With the latest projects (such as in China) things go faster, because we have learned from the mistakes. So it is possible. But even then it will take seven years before the power stations are ready.
