“Wrong out when they give in to opponents”

On Tuesday night, Helsingborg secured games in the Allsvenskan 2022, when they defeated Halmstads BK. It was a dramatic end, where Helsingborg turned in the final stages of the match. The joy after the final signal was then great among players and leaders, as well as supporters. The away fans who had gone to Örjan’s grass stormed the pitch to celebrate with the team.

But for Halmstad’s Amir Al-Ammari, the plan storm became a more unpleasant experience

– I had visited the HBK supporters and thanked them after the match. Then Helsingborg’s supporters had blocked the player entrance. I will not pull everyone over a comb, some were very nice, but then there are some who take it across the border, he tells Fotbollskanalen.

Al-Ammari believes that Helsingborg supporters stopped him from leaving the pitch, and that he received a very unpleasant treatment.

– I heard swear words about myself, but also about the family. When they involve the family, I do not accept anything. I stood up for myself. There were several who were on me and pushed, they did not let me come forward. But I stood up for myself. I did not think they expected it, because they started to back down and became a little safer.

Was it a threatening atmosphere?

– No, not threatening. I had to proceed fairly undisturbed until some wanted to fuck. There were some individuals who called me a “horunge” among others. That is completely unacceptable. Then I will not back down, even if they are ten to one. I stand up for myself and what is seen in the film. I do not think I did anything wrong, it was pure self-defense.

Al-Ammari understands that the supporters stormed the pitch, but he thinks it can be done as a celebration, and with joy, instead of being unpleasant towards the opponents. HBK played against Malmö FF in the last Allsvenskan round when MFF secured the gold at home. Al-Ammari was much better treated by opposing fans who stormed the pitch then

– Take for example Malmö FF which is much larger than HIF. They win Swedish Championship gold at home, their fans come forward and help me out of the field. It was MFF fans who took me all the way around the pitch safely and securely into the aisle. I only heard nice words from Malmö fans. It shows the difference between MFF and HIF supporters.

Al-Ammari says, however, that he will not take the incident further.

– It was a sad experience, but I have to let it go. I do not throw shit at all HIF supporters, just a few individuals.

What Al-Ammari tells about the plan storm is news for Helsingborg’s chairman Kjell Jakobsson when Fotbollskanalen asks him about the events on Wednesday.

– I have not heard anything about this, I have no knowledge or information in the case. But we distance ourselves from all forms of swear words, whoever says so. It goes completely against our values and our way of looking at how to behave, he says.

How do you see your supporters storming the pitch?

– It almost belongs. To go up in the Allsvenskan or win Swedish Championship gold, it is almost the same dignity for the fans. I fully understand that they want to pay tribute to the players in the same way as Malmö FF did. That you run in, as long as you do it in an orderly manner, you should allow that, says Jakobsson.
