JAKARTA – The use of teleconsultation services was found to improve patient compliance, thereby contributing to a significant reduction in blood glucose levels. This is the result of the latest study by Good Doctor Technology Indonesia (Good Doctor).

The pilot study in the framework of the Prolanis sketch became the basis for encouraging the use of telemedicine in the treatment of diabetes.

Head of Medical PT Good Doctor Technology Indonesia Adhiatma Gunawan said telemedicine has the potential to help encourage the development of patient health. “It can even suppress and reduce BPJS chronic care costs in the long term,” he said.

How can teleconsultation services help people with diabetes?

In the pilot study, BPJS offline clinics received support from telemedicine provider Good Doctor to measure the effectiveness of teleconsultation in monitoring blood glucose of diabetic patients at BPJS clinics.

The support includes regular automatic reminders/notifications, regular contact/follow-ups, online consultations, and educational information. Within three months, the patient received a reminder from the telehealth platform to check and measure his blood glucose.

The results of this pilot study indicate that there is a difference between patients who use telemedicine and those who do not, in which patient compliance during the observation period has a high contribution to a significant decrease in blood glucose levels.
