On Tuesday afternoon, the Styrian state warning center received an emergency call that a large black snake had been found in a bush. Thereupon the snake expert Robert Kallinger moved from the Styrian mountain and nature watch.
Snake looked a lot like King Cobra
A dog pulled the snake out of the bushes, said Robert Kallinger. According to the description, Kallinger initially thought of a king cobra: “At first I thought the snake could have gotten out of a terrarium and now have crawled into the snow to hibernate.” But it was relatively quickly clear that it was a plastic cobra. “It looked a lot like a real king cobra,” said Kallinger. A passer-by happened to be passing by. According to Kallinger, she is a biologist. “At first glance she saw that it should be a king cobra, at second glance she also confirmed that it was a plastic snake.”
Robert Kallinger has not yet come across such a snake find: “No, I have never found a plastic snake, but since a king cobra is not a domestic snake, I prefer it if it is not real.” How the wrong snake could have come into the bushes is unclear, Robert Kallinger suspects that there could be a “rascal prank” behind it.
