When producers and filmmakers make a Christmas hit, they are probably taken care of for the rest of their lives. Their work becomes legendary and is repeated every year on television and people return to it with affection, pleasure and nostalgia. Which films fall into the category of legendary?
Three nuts for Cinderella
“Where is your nest, little bird?” Just a few words from Karel Gott’s opening song and everyone is clear. The film Three Nuts for Cinderella starring s Libuší Šafránková belongs to the golden fund of cinematography. Director Václav Vorlíček managed to create the perfect and magical Christmas atmosphere of the traditional fairy tale about Cinderella, so it is no wonder that this film has become famous all over the world.
Although Václav Vorlíček has had a rich career lined with one successful film after another, Three Nuts for Cinderella is guaranteed to be an unbeatable hit. Even this year, millions of viewers will not miss the view of the beautiful Libuše Šafránková and her prince Pavel Trávníček.
Lairs
When director Jan Hřebejk and screenwriter Petr Jarchovský embarked on the filming, which returned to Prague’s Dejvice before the fateful occupation in 1968, they probably had no idea what legend was growing under their hands. Acting concerts of celebrities such as Miroslav Donutil, Bolek Polívka, Stella Zázvorková, Jiří Kodet, Simona Stašová, Emília Vašáryová, Eva Holubová and many others, worked together at number one. The resulting chemistry is seen in every scene that is full of humor and immortal messages.
The paradox of the whole film is that Hřebejk and Jarchovský’s original intention was to follow the Jackal Years, where we would see the same characters in a musical rhythm ten years later. Fortunately, the legendary director Jiří Krejčík told him this idea. The lairs are thus a nostalgic look at the ending touch of freedom of the 1960s from the perspective of sincere and believable characters and small stories.
Heavenly love
Of course, legendary Christmas movies are also made abroad. One of those who parked in a television program and gained a regular place and especially the popularity of viewers is the British Love of Heaven. Director and screenwriter Richard Curtis combined under one roof a great deal of humor, romance and several charming characters, including the British Prime Minister. In a way, all the narrative lines in Christmas London intertwine and meet, creating a film that you can really watch every year.
