Immigrants in Italy will be required to take a negative Covid-19 test / Article

The Italian Government ‘s decree also provides that:

unvaccinated migrants from EU Member States will have to spend five days in quarantine.

Regulations requiring self-isolation for immigrants from other countries will remain in place, but entry from a number of southern African countries is still prohibited.

Until now, people in the European Union have been able to use proof of vaccination or disease with Covid-19 and have not had to give a negative test result.

The rules have changed due to growing concerns in Italy about the spread of the omicron variant of Covid-19. The new requirements will take effect from tomorrow until January 31.

The office of Prime Minister Mario Dragi also informed that the regulations on the Italian “green passport”, which allows the population to prove vaccination, Covid-19 illness or a negative result of the test, remain in force.
