Five South Florida restaurants close due to live flies and accumulated sewage

The reason: Inspectors found eight violations, five of them could be of high priority. They discovered 60 tiny flies buzzing around the establishment, landing on walls, dirty plastic containers and near the sushi bar. An employee handled raw meat and then tried to handle clean equipment without washing his hands. The problem was corrected on the site. A black substance like mold covered the inside of the ice machine. The food was stored incorrectly, with raw chicken stored over raw meat in a cold room. Inspectors returned a day later and found 11 flies in the restaurant. The restaurant was allowed to open the same day after inspectors found no other violations.
