Jakarta –
Oppo introduced two of their latest technological innovations on the first day of Oppo INNO Day 2021. One of the devices they announced at this event was smart glasses. Oppo Air Glass which can be controlled using gestures, sounds, touch, and gestures.
These assisted reality (AR) glasses have a design that is quite unique and different from the smart glasses that are already on the market. Director of XR Technology Oppo Xu Yi said the design of these glasses was inspired by feathers.
“The main body design is inspired by feathers: light, agile, and curved. With a very thin touch bar, it looks like a feather rod,” said Xu at the Oppo INNO Day 2021 event, Tuesday (14/12/2021).
If most smart glasses use round or square-shaped lenses, Oppo carries a cricket-wing-style design on the Air Glass lenses. Overall, the weight of these glasses is only 30 grams.
To display content on the lens, Oppo relies on a homemade projector called the Spark Micro Projector which is claimed to be the smallest projector in the world. This projector module has a volume of 0.5 cc or the equivalent of one coffee bean.

Meanwhile, the screen panel uses micro LEDs that can reach a brightness level of up to 3 million nits. The display area of the Oppo Air Glass is also coated with sapphire glass to increase its transparency and toughness.
These glasses can be operated using the handle on the right. This handle is filled by the touch bar, battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, speakers, dual microphones, and the Snapdragon 4100 Wear which is the brain.
Main function Oppo Air Glass is to become a complementary device of cell phones and smart watches. Users can connect these glasses with Oppo phones and access information and notifications directly from the glasses.
Some of the functions offered include opening applications, reading incoming messages, checking the weather, calendar, adjusting brightness and volume, displaying navigation, and others. Oppo also embeds a Teleprompter feature that can display speech on the screen.

The flagship feature of Oppo Air Glass is Translation. With this feature, two people who use the Oppo Air Glass can still communicate even though they use two different languages.
“The voice will be converted into text, which is then translated and displayed according to the language of your choice,” explains Xu.
Currently the Translation feature in Oppo Air Glass only supports Chinese and English, with support for Japanese and Korean to follow.
Oppo Air Glass is available in two color options, namely black and white. Users can choose between the two models offered, full-frame or half-frame. The Oppo Air Glass will go on sale in Mainland China in the first quarter of 2022.
