Alès hospital is preparing to deprogram non-emergency operations

Attention, strong tension on the Gard hospital system. This is the case in Alès, which launched its white plan on December 6. Since then, 42 hospitalizations including seven in intensive care recorded this Tuesday. Seven patients were killed there last week, and not all of them were vaccinated. And this fifth wave does not weaken, the incidence rate of Gard stood on Tuesday at 693 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, 923 in Alès and its agglomeration.

The public hospital is able to cope, but its management calls on the Alesian population to show “responsibility” in order to allow the staff who gave a lot to be able to breathe with the end of the year celebrations.

“We will do it reasonably.”

Faced with this tension, the management of CHAC (Center hospitalier Alès-en-Cévennes) has decided to prohibit visits, except in special cases (end of life situation, spouses in maternity ward), exemptions subject to prior medical authorization. Another measure by the end of the week, the deprogramming of non-emergency operations. In addition, an additional post-Covid service will be opened and the reception capacity of the intensive care unit which was 8 beds, increasing to 10 and 12 now.

“Reasonable also for the end of year celebrations.”

Even if we have learned a lot from previous waves, especially in terms of treatment of patients, the Alès hospital (with exhausted staff) is worried about a worsening of the health situation. He calls for the responsibility of all. Vaccination and respect for barrier gestures, which also go through reduced social and family relationships.
