The sanctions, which take effect today, apply to eight individuals, Vagner and three companies affiliated with Vagner. These individuals and companies have had their funds in the EU frozen and have been banned from entering the bloc.
EU companies and citizens are not allowed to do business with them.
The sanctions will take effect today following their publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
Last Friday, a senior EU official told the DPA that sanctions were imposed on Vagner in connection with the company’s mercenary activities in Syria, Libya and Ukraine and allegations of human rights abuses.
