Frank Sinatra Monument unveiled in New York

To mark the 106th anniversary of Frank Sinatra’s birth, a larger than life monument has been inaugurated in the legendary singer’s hometown. The bronze statue was unveiled on Sunday (local time) in “Sinatra Park” in Hoboken, New Jersey, USA. The statue by artist Carolyn Palmer shows Sinatra in a classic pose – leaning casually against a lantern, one hand in his trouser pocket, the other on the brim of his hat.

Sinatra’s youngest daughter, Tina Sinatra, 73, remembered her famous father at the ceremony. He often talked about his childhood in Hoboken. At that time he learned to defend himself against bullies and fight for freedom.

Sinatra – made famous by songs like “New York, New York”, “Strangers In The Night” and “My Way” – was born on December 12, 1915 in the industrial town of Hoboken. His career began in the 1930s. In total, “Ol ‘Blue Eyes” sold around 800 million records and starred in almost 60 films. He died on May 14, 1998 at the age of 82 in Los Angeles.
