A debate in the House of Representatives derailed. Ockje Tellegen (VVD) was burned down for her performance and Sylvana Simons (BIJ1) was canonized at the same time. Quite exaggerated, I think Philip van Tin.

A member of the House of Representatives calls something unsolicited into her microphone in a committee meeting, while a fellow Member of Parliament tries to tell a story. She then demands the floor from the chairman, which he refuses, explaining: ‘You will have the floor if I give it to you and you don’t have it now. You have no more rights than others.’ So far crystal clear and an ABC’s. For years we have also enjoyed John Bercow, the flamboyant chairman of the British House of Commons (‘Order, order!’) for whom this issue would have been a piece of cake.
And perhaps it would have gone unnoticed in the Netherlands too, if the ‘victim’ hadn’t been Sylvana Simons. Once a presenter on radio and TV, but now a member of the House of Representatives. Well, member, she herself calls it chairman, only there are no other group members in her one-man group.
