“It was a tough year,” she says with that irresistible uvula of hers. Intense: the word comes up several times during our conversation. And no, Birgit Van Mol (53) is not talking about the corona crisis or her farewell after almost a quarter of a century as anchor woman of VTM News. Since her husband René (67) became seriously ill six years ago, the priorities have been crystal clear. “There is life and death, there is health and disease. For the rest there are only small things, trifles that I can not worry about.”
