Manchester United visited Norwich in Ralf Rangnick’s second Premier League match. Victor Nilsson Lindelöf got a place from the start, while Anthony Elanga was on the bench, where he remained the whole match.
United’s first really sharp chance in the match came on a free kick in a good offensive position. Alex Telles, Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo all stood at the ball, but it was the former who had to take care of it. He got it on goal, but Tim Krul in Newcastle’s box got his fingertips out and sent it over the crossbar.
It was then followed by goal chances for both teams, where not least Teemu Pukki stayed ahead several times for the home team. However, it would be a while before there was a dividend on the goal front.
After just over an hour, Lindelöf sat down on the pitch and grabbed her chest, without having been in any melee. His teammates quickly gathered around him and the Swede then received medical assistance before he got off the plane. After a short tussle with the defender, Eduardo Alves finally tucked the ball home. He was then replaced by Eric Bailly. The team’s coach Ralf Rangnick updated on the situation with the Swede after the match.
– He was in a collision, he can not even remember what it was. He had difficulty breathing. They have done all the tests and he seems okay, he tells Sky Sports.
For journalist Charlotte Duncker, the coach develops:
For more than ten minutes, Lindelöf’s heart rate was higher than normal – he was shocked and did not know how to handle it.
Goalkeeper David de Gea also commented on Lindelöf.
– I do not know what happened. He had some difficulty breathing. We’ve seen Eriksen, Agüero, it’s tough to see your player like that, then it’s better to get off. Hopefully he is okay, says the Spaniard.
Immediately after the disturbing pictures of the Swede, Ronaldo received a penalty. The Portuguese himself managed the chance from the penalty spot and from there scored the only goal of the match.
It was the only goal of the match and United won 1-0. It was one of three Premier League matches on Saturday where the only goal came on penalties. Liverpool and Manchester City also secured their victories in the same way.
