Another small but important success for the Reds. As against Wolverhampton last weekend (0-1), Jürgen Klopp’s men won by a minimal margin against Aston Villa. They clearly dominated (20 shots to 4) but lacked fluidity and offensive inspiration against combative opponents. If Alisson Becker caused several hot shots by missing interventions, Liverpool could once again count on the inevitable Mohamed Salah who obtained and converted a penalty for a foul by Tyrone Mings (67th).

The Egyptian confirms his status as the top scorer in the English league with this 14th achievement. The players of Steven Gerrard, who was making his comeback at Anfield, pushed late in the match but failed to frame any attempt. Liverpool follow the rhythm of Manchester City, winner earlier by the same score against Wolves, and remain second to a length of Skyblues.
Chelsea – Leeds : 3-2
A history of penalties and the Blues are moving forward. Referee Mr. Chris Kavanagh whistled at Stamford Bridge. He first awarded a penalty to Leeds for a foul by Marcos Alonso on Daniel James, and Raphinha was responsible for opening the scoring (28th). Jostled by biting Peacocks, the Blues still equalized thanks to Mason Mount on a service from the Spanish left piston (42nd).
It was then Raphinha who caused a penalty on Antonio Rüdiger and the specialist Jorginho gave the advantage to the Londoners (58th). Barely out of the bench, the young Joe Gelehardt yet equalized (83rd). Except that, in added time, the clever Rüdiger again obtained a penalty for a small fault from Mateusz Klich and Jorginho was able to deceive Ilan Meslier (90th + 4). Despite a stormy end to the match, Chelsea returned to success after their defeat at West Ham (3-2) and remained third, one point behind Liverpool.

Arsenal – Southampton : 3-0
The debates were quieter on the lawn of the Emirates Stadium. The Saints came into the game strong and pushed but were surprised by blockers by the Gunners at ease on a few outings. Bukayo Saka spun to the right and centered towards the penalty spot, where Alexandre Lacazette resumed in the race to open the scoring (21st). In good form in recent weeks, Martin Odegaard was quick to double the lead on a pass from Kieran Tierney (27th) and Arsenal was able to continue the game calmly.
Gabriel Magalhaes even worsened the score with a header from a corner, beating veteran Willy Caballero, out of his withdrawal but not very responsive (62nd). Mikel Arteta’s men rebound after two straight losses and climb to 5th place, while the Spanish coach had chosen to do without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, sanctioned for bad behavior.
