As Jagdinspektor Blatter continues, the current year was marked by a relatively large number of cracks in the first few months. Then there was a quiet time. Not least because a gamekeeper shot down the she-wolf F78 near Zimmerwald at the end of February this year. According to the Federal Hunting Ordinance, wolves can be released for shooting if they have killed at least 35 livestock within four months in their range. In the case of the she-wolf F78, there were 36 on February 19. The canton of Bern therefore ordered her to be shot.
There was no pack formation on canton territory this year either. As can be seen on the website of the Canton of Bern, wolves were also spotted in the Bernese Jura this year. There is one on the geoportal of the canton of Bern map, on which all sightings and wolf cracks are noted. When asked whether demands for more stringent regulation of the wolf are justified in view of the somewhat calmer situation in the canton of Bern, the cantonal hunting inspectorate said: “This is a political question on which we, as an enforcement body, do not comment.”
