It’s a shame, fan curves against ID controls

The act of violence after the Zurich derby at the end of October accelerated the security debate in Swiss football. The decision on personalized tickets has now been postponed by at least six months. The ID control is a relatively tame intervention for the fan curves.

The opinion of the Lucerne fans is shared by the fans in Switzerland as a whole: They do not want personalized tickets.

The fan curves have been showing their displeasure with the personalized tickets for weeks, with banners and other promotions in the stadiums. They fear the loss of their freedom and the anonymity that staying on the curve offers them. Now they and the Swiss Football League have achieved a partial victory. The cantonal security and police directors are continuing to monitor ID checks when visiting the stadium, but nothing has yet been decided. Clarifications about the implementation should take at least six months.
