The minibus, which got into an accident near Chernigov, was converted from a cargo to a passenger one. The accident killed 13 people.
He told about the first results of the technical check of the minibus and the truck she collided with “Public” Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Head of the Commission for the Technical Investigation of the Tragedy Mustafa Nayem. He clarified that the minibus was being altered abroad.
According to Nayem, the car was brought into Ukraine under the mode of transport for the carriage of passengers. At the same time, there were work permits, although the converted transport, according to the law, cannot take part in competitions for route maintenance.
The deputy minister is sure that the number of victims of the tragedy could have been less if the bus were really passenger.
“The rear seats were simply ripped off due to poor fastening and people were crushed,” he explained, adding that from the new year all Sprinters will be checked for re-equipment.
Nayem added that the route of the minibus, which was imported in 2010, is being tracked.
Since it was registered as a bus, the vehicle was later used as a passenger vehicle.
In 2011, the car was sold, but even then for some reason it was confirmed as a passenger car.
“We know which point of mandatory technical inspection granted permission and who confirmed it,” Nayem emphasized.
