Carmen Salinas dies at 82

Carmen Salinas, one of the most emblematic actresses of Mexican cinema, theater and television, passed away on the night of this Thursday, December 9. His family confirmed the unfortunate news through a statement, just hours after telling the press that he had presented an improvement in his health. The 82-year-old actress had been hospitalized since November 11 due to a stroke that led to a natural coma from which she no longer recovered.

“It is with deep pain that we inform you that the first actress Carmen Salinas has passed away today, December 9,” the Salinas family published in a statement on social networks. “We appreciate all the messages of support and expressions of respect towards our family. As well as the expressions of affection and prayers that they offered to our beloved Carmelita ”, they added.

In the publication they did not give more details about the reasons for the unfortunate death, and assured they would share more information about the funeral services of the actress, who managed to connect with the public of various generations thanks to her participation in multiple films, television series and soap operas.

A woman who never stopped working

From a family with few resources, Carmen Salinas Lozano was born on October 5, 1939 in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico. Since she was little, she looked for ways to work in order to have a better lifestyle, something that she achieved thanks to her efforts. She began her career in show business in 1950, while still a child and following in the footsteps of her sister, Over. She participated in more than 100 films and is remembered, by several titles, one of them the play Adventuress. Among her latest participations, she stands out as a special guest in Rooms for Rent and for his role as Doña Cuca in We the Handsome.

In addition to being an actress, Carmelita Salinas imitated the great artists of her time and stood out for her peculiar sense of humor that ranged from mischief to drama. On a personal level, he married in 1956 to Pedro Plascencia, with whom he had two children, Maria Eugenia and the pianist, Pedro Plascencia. In 1994, the strongest blow came for Carmen with the death of her son from lung cancer. Her husband passed away in 1979.
