A serious traffic accident occurred on Friday morning on route 117, in Val-d’Or, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
The collision occurred around 8:15 a.m. in the Dubuisson sector.
According to the authorities, the driver of one of the vehicles involved suddenly lost control of her car and found herself in the opposite lane.
The vehicle heading in the opposite direction could not avoid the impact.
Local firefighters managed to free the woman from her car using jaws of jail. She was rushed to hospital.
“For the moment, we are not in a position to comment on the seriousness of the injuries,” said Sergeant Nancy Fournier, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
A baby was also inside the same vehicle. He would not have been hurt.
The other driver involved is also said to have escaped unscathed.
A section of Route 117 was completely closed to traffic for an indefinite period for police investigation.
