Bremerhaven will get an IC connection from Sunday. With the timetable change, Deutsche Bahn is creating a daily intercity connection from Cologne to Bremerhaven. Norddeich Mole will also have a free intercity connection to Frankfurt am Main. The East Frisian coast will be opened up for new regions, the railway announced.

On the route from Hamburg via Hanover and Göttingen to Bavaria, additional ICEs are to be added to the offer during the week. Göttingen is also receiving a new direct connection from Vienna via Passau. In addition, the trains used in the north-west will gradually become more comfortable and modern, promises the Deutsche Bahn. In some cases, new ICE trains with more than 900 seats would be used.
