A boxing hall in Pays de Bray?
Jérôme Bachelet and his family of five boxers live in Sommery. On the strength of his coaching diplomas, Jérôme, his daughter Cyndelle and his brothers and sisters take the Sommery-Rouen road every day to reach the Saint-Exupéry room near the CHU. A student at Mesnières-en-Bray high school (Bac pro personal service), Cyndelle trains daily. But it is not for them that Jérôme would like to find a room from now on. It is for young people from the Pays de Bray and the Bresle valley in high demand for boxing. “And I would also like to share it with school children.”
Because Jérôme Bachelet would like to reach a very large audience around the noble art. And the demand is real. “When we train at the Neufchâtel-en-Bray gym, people often ask us for information about boxing. Some even come to Rouen with us ”.
Because Jérôme Bachelet knows it well, boxing is a universal language. “The ideal would be to find a small venue in Neufchâtel-en-Bray to meet local demand. There are many young people who would find their account in this sport ”confides Jérôme, who became a trainer at the age of 40. “There is a social role in boxing which allows the transmission of real values”. Jérôme will soon contact the local elected officials to present his project.
Noble art in Neufchâtel? The idea is decidedly attractive.

A family passion which requires some sacrifices. So following the famous formula, “without black bread, no glory”, the family adapts to this ultimate goal: the Paris Olympics.
At the end of November, Cyndelle was in Alicante in Spain for the Boxam tournament (cadet-junior) which brings together a field of the best young European boxers.
At 17 in the junior -54 kg category, Cyndelle won a gold medal which is not yet Olympic. She beat in the final a Spaniard whom she should find regularly on her way in the years to come. “In the meantime, we have other objectives” tempers Jérôme, who does not intend to cut corners.
Despite the health crisis, Cyndelle boxed in Serbia and during a tournament with the France team against Italy. Unfortunately, at the regional level, it lacks adversaries. This requires long trips. She recently participated in the Toussaint tournament in Nantes where she still shone.
With 18 victories for 21 fights, Cyndelle has the punch at the end of the gloves. His passage at the senior level next year will be the justice of the peace for the rest of his career. She will participate in the French women’s championships in 2022, “hoping that it will take place” adds Jérôme Bachelet.
Of course, the Paris Olympics are still a long way off. But talent combined at work and the unwavering support of an entire family and club could well be the recipe for success.
