VVD, D66, CDA and the ChristenUnie are close to an agreement on a new cabinet. There is a good chance that the four parties will present the coalition agreement early next week, sources confirm to the NOS.
Tonight the negotiators and informants Remkes and Koolmees sat together from 1 pm to 11 pm. A final agreement has not yet been reached, party leaders said afterwards. But there was optimism. “We have made progress. We are approaching the end,” said CU leader Segers.
very end
D66 leader Kaag said she was “in good spirits” that a “beautiful and ambitious” agreement will be reached. And CDA leader Hoekstra spoke of a “productive evening”. “We’ve come a long way.” Only VVD leader Rutte didn’t want to say anything yet and walked away with the words “we won’t say anything until we’re out”.
Negotiations will start tomorrow from early in the afternoon and a number of organizations will visit, such as the Labor Foundation, the IPO, the VNG and the Union of Water Boards.
The text
Prior to the final presentation of the coalition agreement, the MPs of the four parties have already read the document, made any changes and gave their final approval. It is still unknown when the texts will be sent to these MPs.
The presentation of the coalition agreement does not mean that the new Rutte IV cabinet will soon be on the king’s platform. A debate with the House of Representatives will follow and then VVD leader Rutte will be appointed as formateur, who will put together the ministerial team. He can use the Christmas break for that.
road pricing
According to insiders, agreements have been made in the coalition agreement about billions in investments in major problems such as the climate, the housing shortage and tackling the nitrogen problem.
