CORONAVIRUS / UNITED STATES: THE ANTIVIRAL TREATMENT OF ASTRAZENECA APPROVED BY THE REGULATOR
–
(Reuters) – The US drug regulator in the United States on Thursday approved the emergency use of the antiviral cocktail developed by AstraZeneca to protect against a severe form of COVID-19 people who are immunocompromised or at risk of serious side effects in the event of vaccination.
Called Evusheld, the treatment has only been approved by the FDA for adults and adolescents who have not been infected with the coronavirus or exposed to infected people.
This is a major breakthrough for AstraZeneca, whose COVID-19 vaccine used around the world has not yet been validated by US health authorities.
