Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Projections of some of Jakarta’s coastal areas sinking frequently surfaced recently. So far, the coastal areas in Jakarta have been defended by sea walls to prevent the high sea water from entering the mainland.
However, recently a subscription phenomenon has emerged, namely tidal flooding in various coasts of Jakarta. This time, it even hit the ‘elite’ coastal area of Jakarta, namely Taman Impian Jaya Ancol.
Residents were excited when they saw the broken embankment in the Pantai Indah Ancol area, Jakarta, Wednesday (11/8/2021). One part of the beach at the Ancol Dreamland Tourism attraction was also hit by tidal flooding.

According to PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Corporate Communication Eko Nugroho, this tidal flood is the first time this has occurred in Ancol.
“So, yesterday, Tuesday (7/12/2021), there was an incident where there was sea water runoff because today’s rob was high enough to enter the pedestrian area and roads in Ancol tourism,” said Eko while talking with CNBC Indonesia, Wednesday (8/12).
Monitoring of the location of sea water seepage can also be seen in other embankments and no further action has been taken from the management.
Handling the broken embankment made emergency embankments such as sacks and tarpaulins.
Until yesterday Wednesday, visitors seemed to keep coming to visit the Ancol Beach area.
Previously, the Pantai Indah Ancol area was hit by tidal flooding as high as 20 cm. The flood was caused by the breaking of the coastal barrier in the area.
This incident went viral on social media. From the viral video, it can be seen that the water overflowed and submerged the sidewalk to the pedestrian area of Pantai Indah Ancol. The water rushes from the gap in the wall and flows into the land.
