Jakarta: Oppo will hold an event called Inno Day 2021 on December 14. On this occasion Oppo will announce a row of its latest technological innovations and possibly their new smartphone for next year.
Ahead of the event which will be held in its home country, China, it seems that Oppo has given a little teaser to attract the attention of gadget fans. The information was uploaded via the official Twitter account.
In the short video uploaded, Oppo shows off a technology known as a retractable camera or a camera that can go in and out of the inside of the smartphone body. The explanation is at first glance similar to the pop-up camera model that was popular a few years ago but it turns out to be different.

If the pop-up camera is a camera mechanism that goes out and in by going up or down at the top, now a retractable camera makes the camera lens on the back protrude when it’s active and will pull inward when not in use.
Most pop-ups are annoying…

This mechanism makes the camera protrusion or the rear camera bumper of the smartphone flatter to other surfaces, thus avoiding scratches or damage due to impact on the camera bumper.
The video shows that the camera will also automatically pull the lens inside when the smartphone is dropped. This is a sign that sensor features such as those in the pop-up camera model are still being used.
Not only that, the video showed the condition of the smartphone being hit by a jet of water. Oppo may also want to prove that this new, unknown smartphone also has waterproof features in addition to retractable camera technology.
In the past, Oppo had become a trendsetter for a number of other Android smartphone brands in presenting pop-up camera features ranging from prominent models from the top of the body to a forward and backward roll mechanism that functions as a rear and front camera.
