Start-up from Leuven builds device to quickly and accurately detect allergies

“The current test, in which the nurse manually pricks all substances in the forearm, dates from 1959. It is unimaginable,” said Senne in a conversation on Radio 2 Vlaams-Brabant. “In the meantime, the hospitals are moaning about staff shortages and they ask me if I can’t deliver the device faster. Because with the device you can save someone who can then do something else.”

Senne’s company, Hippo Dx, recently raised 1.5 million euros to start production of the new device. According to the current outlook, this will happen from 2023.
