The Sytral (Lyon public transport organizing authority) unveiled on Monday the final routes of the new T9 and T10 tram lines, which must serve the northern and south-eastern suburbs of Lyon.

The two new tram lines, the T9 and the T10, should make it easier for the Lyon suburbs to reach Lyon. Thus, the T9 must connect Vaulx-en-Velin and Villeurbanne, serving in particular the Mas du Taureau district and the T10, further south, must run between Gerland and Vénissieux via Saint-Fons.
Although the route of each of these new lines was already planned, uncertainties remained for certain stops. Consultations were therefore carried out this summer and in the fall to decide. This Monday, December 6, Sytral unveiled the selected options, which will have to be validated during the metropolitan council next week.
For T9 as for T10, consultation should continue in the course of 2022. Work should begin in 2023 for commissioning in early 2026.
In Villeurbanne, the T9 will follow avenue Albert Einstein

<p>For the T9, north of Lyon, the uncertainty related to the section between the terminus of T1 and the continuation of the new line. According to Sytral, more than 1,400 people took part in the consultation process to determine the future route on this section. A preference emerged for the passage of the T9 on rue de la Feyssine and avenue Albert Einstein. </p>
<p>On the part of Villeurbanne, the T9 must follow the route of the T1 and therefore the same stations. On the other hand, stops remained to be determined on the rest of the line. According to the results of the consultation, they will therefore be located at the intersection of rue de Verdun in Villeurbanne, at place Carmellino in Vaulx-en-Velin, near the Charlie-Chaplin cultural center and towards the Mas swimming pool. of Taurus. To cross the Jonage Canal, a new bridge will have to be built at Croix-Luizet.</p>
<p>The residents also took advantage of these meetings to ask Sytral to improve the bus service to the districts of Saint-Jean and Buers in Villeurbanne, Pont des Planches and Vaulx-Village in Vaulx-en-Velin. </p>

The T9, a tramway between Villeurbanne and Vaulx-en-Velin
As a reminder, the T9 must leave from Charpennes and follow the T1 line to the latter’s terminus at La Doua and Parc de la Feyssine. The T9 will continue its route due east to serve the Buers and Saint-Jean districts in Villeurbanne, the Mas du Taureau in Vaulx-en-Velin before joining the metro A terminus at La Soie.
A total of 12 stations, served in a good half hour. By 2030, Sytral estimates an attendance of 27,000 to 36,000 travelers per day. The budget voted for T9 is 224 million euros.

In Vénissieux, the T10 will pass through avenue Jean-Jaurès

<p>On the southern side of Lyon, the consultation on T10 brought together a thousand participants, almost as many as for T9. Here too, the challenge was to decide between the two routes proposed on a section of the line, near its terminus at Vénissieux station. The results of the consultation pleaded in favor of a passage of the tram on avenue Jean-Jaurès and rue Emile-Zola. </p>
<p>Work will have to be carried out under Boulevard Laurent-Bonnevay to allow the passage of soft modes and T10. </p>

The T10, a tramway between Lyon Gerland and Vénissieux
The T10 will leave from the Halle Tony-Garnier, in the Gerland district (Lyon 7th district) and will cross the south-east of Lyon towards Vénissieux, to the east. The tram will serve the Gerland stadium, the Edouard-Herriot port, Saint-Jean-de-Dieu, Saint-Fons and the Marronniers district to make its terminus at Vénissieux station and thus join the metro D.
A total of 14 stations, served in about twenty minutes. By 2030, Sytral estimates an attendance of around 22,000 travelers per day. The budget voted for T9 is 230 million euros.
