Good for TSV Hannover-Burgdorf: State aid for sports is extended – sports mix

It was in the summer of 2020 when the Bundestag approved a Corona aid program for professional sports such as handball, ice hockey, basketball and soccer from League 3. A 200 million euro pot was intended to alleviate the financial losses caused by ghost games.

Over a year later, the pandemic has continued to hold the sport in a stranglehold. Corona has stayed, the compensation pot also remains.

State aid is extended!

That is rather hidden in the resolution minutes of the Prime Minister’s Conference last Thursday. On the last page under point 20, among other things, “the hardship aid, the federal special fund for trade fairs and exhibitions, the federal special fund for cultural events, the Corona aid professional sport program and the KFW special program are to be extended”.

Breathe deeply for affected clubs. Eike Korsen (38), managing director of Bundesliga handball team TSV Hannover-Burgdorf: “Like many other clubs from other sports, we welcomed this 2020 decision very much. The program helped tremendously. We now also welcome an extension beyond 2021 for the entire sport. “

The talk is allegedly to extend the so-called “Corona bridging aid” not only for 2022, but also for 2023 depending on the pandemic. An increase in the aid pot over 200 million euros is also being discussed.
