Lower Franconia: Labor market recovers on …

The labor market in Upper and Lower Franconia is recovering the fastest from the consequences of the Corona crisis. This is shown by figures from the Institute for Employment Research, which the Association of Bavarian Economy (vbw) has evaluated. In Lower Franconia, the forecast is that the number of unemployed in the coming year will be around 0.9 percent above the level of 2019. For the other administrative districts, the expectations are worse: In Upper Bavaria, more than 20 percent more unemployed are expected.

Würzburg on the upswing

In the area of the Würzburg employment agency (Würzburg with the Main-Spessart and Kitzingen districts) unemployment will even fall by almost 8 percent this year compared to the level before the pandemic. For the coming year, the experts are even expecting a decline of another 15 percent. However, vbw continues to worry about the increasing shortages of skilled workers and supplies in some industries and regions. That slows down the positive development. It is therefore crucial that the future federal government relieve companies financially and with bureaucratic regulations.
