Jos Verstappen opens up about deteriorating relationship with Wolff

In the past, Jos Verstappen and Toto Wolff sometimes chatted on the track when they met. Since the Grand Prix of Great Britain, however, there has been no smooth talk between the two, as Max Verstappen’s father saw a completely different Wolff after the crash between the two 2021 title candidates.

Asked by Daily Mail he reacts clearly about the relationship between de Wolff and Jos. “He’s gone. I don’t like his attitude. I don’t like how he behaved, this started at Silverstone.” Max Verstappen crashed hard here due to a tap from title rival Lewis Hamilton.

“One of the drivers was in hospital and they are on the podium celebrating the victory as if they have already won the world championship,” said the former Formula 1 driver.

The other side of Wolff

Before the crash at Silverstone there was still some contact between father Jos and Wolff, but that quickly changed. “I didn’t know Toto was like that,” he continues. “But I got to know a completely different Wolff. We have had no contact with him, no message or anything.”

According to Jos, the previous talks did not mean that there were talks about a possible switch from Verstappen to Mercedes. “I’m not saying he tried to get Max on board, but let’s just say we had a good relationship for Silverstone,” he concluded.
