Total solar eclipse leaves Antarctica in darkness

On Antarctica, a eclipse solar left the frozen continent in darkness. The phenomenon only lasted a few minutes, but it was enough to render beautiful images.

A video released by Nasa shows the moment when the phenomenon happens in the west region of the South Pole. It was a few minutes of total darkness.

An eclipse happens when the Sun, Moon and Earth are on exactly the same line.

Because of the geographic position, the only place where the phenomenon happens completely is Antarctica.

Some parts of South Africa, Chile, New Zealand and Australia can still see the eclipse, but only partially.
