VIVA – Global Cancer Observatory (GLOBOCAN) 2020 data states, heart cancer is one of the four largest causes of death from cancer in Indonesia, with the number of cases reaching 21,392 people dying.
Therefore, cancer heart become one of the major health challenges that need attention in Indonesia. Because, liver cancer symptoms cannot be detected easily and has a rapid worsening of the disease.
The main key to successful treatment of liver cancer is the discovery of cancer at an early stage so that it can be handled optimally. Unfortunately, the lack of understanding of risk factors and awareness of the importance of routine examinations is a challenge in the treatment of liver cancer, so that most patients come and are diagnosed at an advanced stage.
Gastroentero-Hepatology Specialist, MRCCC Siloam Hospital, Dr. dr. Cosmas Rinaldi Lesmana, SpPD-KGEH, FACP, FACG, FINASIM, said that, in general, liver cancer does not show symptoms except when it has entered an advanced stage.

“Often the symptoms of liver cancer felt by patients are similar to the symptoms of other diseases. Therefore, the public needs to check themselves to provide clues on symptoms that are generally not felt by patients,” he said during the webinar ‘The Role of Routine Examination for Early Detection of Liver Cancer’, which held by Roche Indonesia and MRCCC Siloam Hospitals, Saturday 4 December 2021.
In addition, Rinaldi added, for patients who have high risk, examinations need to be carried out routinely, for example every 6 months with ultrasound examinations and blood tests.
