Vaccination centers in the capital are already administering the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine – Prensa Libre

The Ministry of National Defense has already confirmed that they began with the immunization with the third dose against the coronavirus, for the health personnel of the first line, who has already completed six months from the second vaccine.

The places where this third dose is already being placed are:

  • Mariscal Zavala, with AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna.
  • Portals in zone 18, has the reinforcements for Moderna, AstraZeneca and Sputnik, for a third dose, always for first-line health personnel. The dose can be applied from 9 to 16 hours.
  • And the Alida Spain center with AstraZeneca from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The modification of the requirements contemplates that for now the booster vaccine or additional dose against covid-19 is specifically for people over 60 years of age and for first-line health personnel.

Also for people who have a heart disease, a tumor or an immunodeficiency.

The dose will be for those who have already passed six months since the second dose of Pfizer, Moderna, Sputnik V and AstraZeneca.

For people who took Johnson & Johnson, it is two months later that they can be given Pfizer, Moderna, or AstraZeneca.

Guatemalans have to present a card to prove that the six months have passed and there is no need to register in the system.

In addition, the authorities have announced that the vaccination for minors continues in the centers already established such as Mariscal Zavala, Honor Guard and Campo de Marte from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“This is aimed at the student population, which as planned by the government would be resuming face-to-face classes from February 2022,” commented Colonel Tellez, Army spokesman.

In order for minors to apply the dose against the coronavirus, they must attend with their parents or a guardian who certifies acceptance of the vaccine.

According to the portal of the Ministry of Health to date, 10.2 million people have been vaccinated; with full dose 4.13 million Guatemalans, reaching 24.5 as a percentage of the number of people in the country.
