All under the eyes of the mayor of the city, Mr. Thomas Ravier, the Deputy of the Rhône, Mr. Bernard Perrut, and the sports director of OL, Juninho. “The FCVB is one of the big clubs in the region. Why not an OL – Villefranche derby one day.” told us the Brazilian with 100 goals and 7 titles under the Lyon colors came to discuss with the Calad president Philippe Terrier. “OL is a club that likes to invest in young people. We are always looking for new partners, as at the moment in Brazil but also in the region. Villefranche in Ligue 2 next season? I hope so. It didn’t go far last year, this season it will do! ”

Member of the sport excellence network of Jean-Michel Aulas’ club, the FCVB is asserting itself as the second footballing power in the Rhône region through its performance on the ground. Mr. Hervé Legros, CEO and founder of the Alila group, recalled the role of OL in its arrival at FCVB as main sponsor before unveiling its ambitions. “Our goal is to support the club financially to enable it to access Ligue 2. We hope this year will be a good one” he explained in a speech. Behind FC Villefranche-Beaujolais, a desire shared by an entire territory to aim higher. Hence the label of “match of the territory” for the meeting which was played this Friday (1-1 editor’s note). Gaëtan Mazzola, general manager of the club, detailed the issues: “We want to make the FCVB the representative of the Caladois identity. There was a huge enthusiasm around the barrage of accession to Ligue 2 last season. People came from all over the region. 400 private sponsors us support, they are very involved. I think that today we are the football club of Beaujolais territory. ”
