Among the most popular candidates – French Donald Trump / Article

One in three young people did not go to the polls in the last French presidential election. Now these right-wing young people have a new hero who inspired them. This is Eric Zemur.

“Eric Zemur is a journalist and writer. For 30 years, he has been analyzing why France is getting worse and worse. And now he wants to solve something,” said Valentin Blell, a supporter of Eric Zemur.

Zemur officially announced this week that he would run in the upcoming French presidential election in April. He is 63 years old, anti-immigration, anti-Islamic, advising French children not to use foreign words and wanting to save France from decadence and from minority oppressions.

Zemur has twice been convicted of inciting hatred. But despite legal scandals, his book’s publicity tour this fall has attracted large crowds. People stood in line to get his autograph.

Due to his provocative, offensive style of speech, Zemur is compared to former US President Donald Trump.

The French yellow press writes that the 28-year-old Zemur’s election campaign leader is expecting his child. Zemūrs has sued for invasion of privacy. For him, as a married man and a father of three, campaigning for traditional values, this was not a convenient event. The fact that he was photographed with his middle finger raised in Marseille did not help Zemur’s ratings either.

“He’s doing pretty well as his ratings go up. Why not? It seems that his strategy is working pretty well for now,” said a Parisian.

“He may be a presidential candidate, but he has no chance of being elected – I don’t think the French are so stupid today,” said a Parisian.

“I know people who could vote for Zemur – they previously voted for Marina Lepena. Yes, he will remove the votes for Marina Lepena, that’s for sure,” said another Parisian.

Although Zemūrs is in the 3rd place in the ranking table, behind Emanuel Makrona and Marina Lepena, there are still four months until the election and anything could happen. The results of the French elections are extremely important for Europe.

“The French elections are particularly important for the European Union, because the person who holds the French presidency has enormous power.

This is different from Germany, where the chancellor has only limited power because he or she represents only one party in the coalition. France’s policy towards Europe could change very radically, depending on who takes up the post, “said Daniel Gross, an expert at CEPS think tank.

Mr Gross said a lot would depend on Zemur having a majority in parliament if he became French president, as Macron has now. If this is not the case and he does not even have his own party yet, then his ability to carry out his plans will be limited. But he could undoubtedly paralyze the work of the European Council, to the detriment of all the Member States.
